:-)  I've been fixing, breaking, and reimplementing this part of the kernel
(including doing most the powerpc arch parts myself) for some time.

Might as well ignore them.  They're obsolete anyway.

It's quite likely there was some bug I knew about at the time (probably I
introduced it ;-) and was fixed a while back that I've forgotten about.
Any kernel >= 2.6.25 should have the same code for this that is still in
the upstream kernel now.
