Does GNU ld work on Alpha OSF1?

I'm trying to compile libgcj on Alpha OSF1 V5.0 910, but I'm having this
message error:
Object file format error in: .libs/libgcj.la-2.o: relocate: extern lita
entries
cannot have non-zero offsets; 'memcpy' has 0x10059ec0)
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [libgcj.la] Error 1
I want to try with GNU ld, I downloaded GNU binutils, but ld doesn't
appear in the programs installed by binutils. Is ld supported for Alpha
OSF1?
