I checked in the following patch:

2001-11-22  H.J. Lu  <hjl@gnu.org>

	* Makefile.in: Regenerated with automake based on automake
	1.4-8 in RedHat 7.1.

It seems that automake and autoconf from RedHat 7.1 works fine.

# rpm -q automake autoconf
automake-1.4-8.3
autoconf-2.13-10
