Subject: messing the header from gas

hi,

  i'm trying to make gas set the PIC flag (EX_PIC) in the output file.
  i've been looking where to set that in an independent way, but i'm lost.
  is there any way to mess with the headers (a.out in this case) in the
gas sources, that is, without modifying bfd? any possible hook?
  any directions will be appreciated.
