AIX c_impl patch missing?

Hi,
Just tried the binutils-2.12.1pre1 release and found out that it did not
build on our AIX 4.3.2.0 system. The reason is that the c_impl does not
exist in the core_dumpx struct on AIX4 < 4.3.3.0.
While investigating, I found that the bug has been reported before and
that David Edelsohn even posted a patch against 2.11.2:

I tried the patch against 2.12.1pre1 and it worked fine. Is there a
reason why the patch was never committed?
