The enclosed patch allows building binutils with the HPUX bundled
compilers (both 32 and 64-bit).  I have also tested it with builds
and testsuite runs using gcc 3.2.

You should probably also try a build using HP's make. Last time I tried to build GDB using HP's make it barfed. Details in gdb/PROBLEMS.

Given GDB asumes a real compiler, it can work around the problem by recommending that GNU make be built/installed first. I don't know that binutils has that same luxury (unless of course someone is going to run after GNU make and ensure that that can be built with HP's K&R compiler :-/).
