I tested it on gcc 4.2 with C, C++, Java and Fortran on Linux/x86-64.
There is no regression.

I think you only need --dynamic-list-cpp-new for building libstdc++.so.
-Bsymbolic-functions should be sufficient for other C++ shared
libraries.
