Hi Ian, I don't suppose you have a testcase for "setting up an
indirection from a symbol to itself" in
http://sourceware.org/ml/binutils/1999-q3/msg00068.html
I'm wondering if we still need the early exit from
_bfd_elf_merge_symbol.
