Tristan,

The Intel's assembler port onto VMS has a -Nvms_upcase option to
preserve symbols casing. If no
- -Nvms_upcase symbols are upcased. The as GNU assembler on OpenVMS has
no such.

Read the USAGE EXAMPLES I just added to my article at

You'll find a comparison between as.EXE and Intel's iasi64.EXE
