please no.  this would be just another distro pita to worry about -- most 
arches would use @gasversion and things work fine, but every once in a while, 
you get that stupid arch (*cough* arm) that needs %gasversion and so no one 
doing the development notices and the distros need to clean it up.  i already 
see enough of this with %progbits vs @progbits in section attributes.
