Unrecognized option `-G' error

Hi All,

I am trying to build mips-elf cross compiler on NT machine. While building
the compiler it is issuing the following error:

 if [ $? -eq 0 ] ; then true; else exit 1; fi; \
  mv libgcc1.o ${name}.o; \
  mips-elf-ar rc tmplibgcc1.a ${name}.o; \
  rm -f ${name}.o; \
done
_m16addsf3
as: unrecognized option `-G'
make[1]: *** [libgcc1-asm.a] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/build/gcc/gcc'
make: *** [all-gcc] Error 2
make: Leaving directory `/tmp/build/gcc'

What could be the problem in this case. I tried searching the -G option in
make. No where it mentioned in the makefile.

I am using CYGWIN 1.1.4 for building the compiler.

Any suggestions in this regard, highly appreciated.

Cheers,
Mani
