  I think that's fair enough.  None of this is any kind of maintenance
issue nor bug to do with glibc, apart from the 'make preinstall' new feature

suggestion, which was one or two brief paras. amongst a whole load of noise
about the general complexity of configuring, building and installing cross
compilers.
