Hi My question was abt how register allocation affected induction variables. My question is based on what I found with even small programs with the induction variables declared as globals. The induction variable value seemed to be always loaded from memory. This was with a gcc cross compiler for MCORE. So is there any thing in the register allocation which prevents them being allocated into registers ? If so, is there any literature/work in progress on the optimizations which can do a better register allocation.
regards sumesh
