Yes, I would consider the change(s) I need to make to the patch you provided to be quite trivial and I was using emacs as well, so I can't blame it on the editor :-(

No, I meant change the real file in ptxdist rather than change the patch. Here's how I made the patch I sent you:

  cd ptxdist-testing-20031113/rules
  cp target.in target.in.old
  vi target.in
  cd ../..
  diff -u ptxdist-testing-20031113/rules/target.in{.old,} > ~/ptx-arm.patch
