I just cross-built a native arm-unknown-linux-gnu compiler, and that works MUCH better with 2.6 kernel headers than with 2.4 kernel headers.
Using the 2.4 kernel headers, I would end up with a glibc that called syscalls that didn't exist. waitpid was one of them, but I would get strange errors with file locking too.
Now that I re-bootstrapped with the headers from linux 2.6.6, all those problems appear to have disappeared, as mysteriously as they came.
Well, maybe I should make 2.6.x the default for all arches in crosstool, then... the resulting tools ought to work fine with 2.4 kernels, and they work much better for you, so I guess it's time to switch. - Dan
