There is a patch for crosstool to add uclibc support; it's in
crosstool-0.28-*/contrib/crosstool-uclibc-0.28-rc5-ter.patch
It needs updating, though.  Here's the author's notes on the status:

If someone updates it to match 0.28-rc36, I'll pop it into the next release.
