I've collected a few notes about crossbuilding Python at http://kegel.com/crosstool/python.html The patch ptxdist uses is good, but doesn't keep setup.py from finding build system libraries when building extensions. I think the Gentoo patch does (see where it puts a prefix on the /usr it searches in). And then there's the patch in the Python patch tracker that adds autoconf support for crosscompilation. Somebody should wrap all those up in a nice package and get 'em in the python mainline. Guido expressed support for the idea a couple years ago, so it might actually happen. - Dan
