I was waiting for 0.26 before making any suggestion about changing the directory structure, but..
The attached script (convert-structure) puts files into the following directory structure... - ./config (the '.dat' files) - ./bin (shell scripts without demo scrips) - ./examples (current demo scripts)
I think once we get rid of the .dat files, the shell scripts won't be so bad to keep in the top level. And the demo scripts can be generated by a single shell script, so maybe they don't even need to be shipped. But thanks anyway, I was tempted to do something similar earlier...
