If you want to get builduserland working, probably best thing to do is just download the latest ptxdist from http://ptxdist.sf.net and see if you can get it to build a minimal system, without worrying about integrating it with crosstool.
Thanks for the suggestion but that does seem to cover x86_64.
How much of a userland do you need, anyway? I just built bash and got a minimal (and I do mean minimal) userland up with it for x86_64 today... - Dan
