questions/observations about current crosstool.sh options

just a couple easy questions. first, crosstool.sh recommends the
use of the "libc_cv_ppc_machine=yes" environment variable when
building the glibc headers, "so glibc-cvs doesn't complain 'a version
of binutils that supports .machine "altivec" is needed'". i'm
assuming that this is no longer needed with recent versions of
binutils. (at least, i seem to be able to get rid of it without
incident with binutils-2.16.1.)

second, that same step uses the "--enable-hacker-mode", ostensibly
to get this step to work with hppa-linux. does anyone know whether
that option is still necessary here for that or any other reason?

  thanks.
