Did you eventually get the crosstool to work?
No - I didn't have the time back then to continue, so I scanned the changelog between gcc 4.0 and gcc 3.4.3 (the gcj part) to see which patches I should backport...

I currently am having problems to compile on cygwin a crosscompiler for compiling to linux (i686).
I get the same problems I think but am not too sure. Therefor some checks:


* Did your complete windows become unusable, needing a reboot?

* Did the compile end at various places?
None of these seem to ring any bells, no!
