Hello all, I try to build a tool-chain for a Power7 (IBM Power 750) machine with amd64 (Ubuntu lucid lynx). It seems I ran into the problem from http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=41818. Despite the patch associated with this bug is applied (to gcc-4.4.5) I get this error: " [INFO ] Installing C library start files [WARN ] Removing "-pipe" for use with glibc>=2.6 [ERROR] checking for suffix of object files... configure: error: in `/home/baumann/Projekte/Power7_GCC/crosstool-ng-1.9.3/.build/powerpc64-ibm-linux-gnu/build/build-libc-startfiles': [ERROR] configure: error: cannot compute suffix of object files: cannot compile [ERROR] Build failed in step 'Installing C library start files' [ERROR] Error happened in '/home/baumann/Projekte/Power7_GCC/crosstool-ng-1.9.3/scripts/functions' in function 'CT_DoExecLog' (line unknown, sorry) [ERROR] called from '/home/baumann/Projekte/Power7_GCC/crosstool-ng-1.9.3/scripts/build/libc/glibc.sh' at line # 300 in function 'do_libc_start_files' [ERROR] called from '/home/baumann/Projekte/Power7_GCC/crosstool-ng-1.9.3/scripts/crosstool-NG.sh' at line # 597 in function 'main' [ERROR] Look at '/home/baumann/x-tools/powerpc64-ibm-linux-gnu/build.log' for more info on this error.
