If you want to use it in Cygwin, I think it wouldn't be a good idea to
put it into newlib. Since your code is from glibc, I'm pretty sure it's
LGPL'd, right? LGPL'd code couldn't go into the Cygwin lib for licensing
reasons. So we would have to exclude this code from the functions linked
in from newlib.
Better keep it a separate package/library.
