because the libGGI libraries are not cygwin libraries, but mingw libraries and do

you are missing a lot of libs (dlls)?
Where did you move them?
Here's a full listing. The byte counts match your listing, except that mine are in /usr/local/lib, while yours are in /usr/local/lib/ggi!
I checked the file I downloaded from http://pws.prserv.net/thefortins/ggi.tar.gz, and it does unload the libs into usr/local/lib, not usr/local/lib/ggi. Is there another environment variable that needs to be set to find the library? I don't have LD_LIBRARY_PATH set. Do I need to?% ls -l /usr/local/lib/
