I try to show in a better way the sitation.
Fist of all I make a mistake
the file is not cygwin.def but site.cygwin

The main idea is to compile on WIN NT4 Xfree86 using cygwin.

I downloaded the tar related to the source code (Xfree86 ver. 4.0.1)
and reading FAQ, I changed in the directory xc/config/cf the cygwin.def file in site.def. In the xc directory using the command 
make World > world.log I compiled the source code.

I obtained several errors.

In this mail-list Suhaib Siddiqi suggested to use the source present in
the CVS repository where these problems there aren't.

When I downloaded the code from the CVS in the xc/config/cf directory
I didn't find the cygwin.def file and then I sent a request to this
list asking if I have to do same change before compiling.

The same Suhaib Siddiqi said me to change site.cygwin in site.def and
something related to host.cygwin

Where I can find these file?
