RE: [ANNOUNCEMENT] Shadow Framebuffer Test 5

Hi,

I still can't get it to work, but I think Harold made it clear to me why it
doesnt work. When I try to run the server now, I get an error message saying
that it cant allocate bitmapsomething, and then a nice little message that
explains that one reason it might not work is that there just isn't enough
free memory.

That explains it all to me. I know I'm on the memory limit to even be able
to use my machine at all.

Have you any idea how much memory is required Harold?

Great job! I guess I have to hunt down my ITSD department for a memory
upgrade!

Thanks a million for your efforts!

Subject: [ANNOUNCEMENT] Shadow Framebuffer Test 5

Test 5 has been uploaded to:
http://www.msu.edu/~huntharo/xwin/shadow/

Screen bitfield formats are now automatically detected for 15, 16, 24, and
32 bits per pixel. I'm not sure if 24 bpp or 15 bpp works though, cause my
display can only do 16 and 32 bpp; 16 and 32 bpp have been tested on my
machine. This release has much better chances of working on those problem
machines that are out there, so please give it a try.

Those of you running at 8 bits per pixel will also notice that I have
started working on supporting 8 bits. The server will currently startup in
8 bits per pixel, but it doesn't have the correct colormap yet, so colors
are mostly black with some pink and yellow thrown in for fun :)

Enjoy,

Harold L Hunt
