Is he not using --> start /B Xwin -screen 0 800x600x16 ???
Try commenting out fvwm2 from your startxwin.bat. Use twm untill you know
your server works.
I suspect the problrm here could missing engine? Try appending one of the
engine options to xwin command?

What resolution are you running Windows at?
Please send in the command line output from running your batch file.
Do this by launching a command prompt and running startxwin.bat from
there,
rather than double-clicking the file from Windows Explorer.

Subject: Test12 crash on win2000
Hello ,
I try to run XWin on windows2000 .
I have all the latest of xfree86 and cygwin
my startxwin.bat is:
@echo off
SET DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:0.0
SET PATH=%PATH%;\usr\X11R6\bin;\cygwin\bin;\cygwin\usr\bin
start /B Xwin -screen 0 800x600x16 -whitepixel 255 -blackpixel 0
start /B xterm -sl 1000 -sb -rightbar -ms red -fg yellow -bg black -e
bash
start /B rxvt -fn "Lucidia Console-12"
start /B fvwm2
@echo on
With this command the server crashes.
with "-fullscreen" instead of "-screen 0 800x600x16 " the server works
but
not in a window.
Could you suggest me something to do ?
Thanks
