I saw that exact same behaviour recently when I was digging around with
the AF_UNIX code.
Can you try Suhaibs new binaries, or as a more bandwidth friendly tst,
try not using startx, but instead
XWin -screen 0 640 480
export DISPLAY=<ip of ethernet or active ppp link>:0.0
[run some xclient here]
If that works you may have discovered an issue with Unix sockets - could
you
1) generate a cygcheck.
2) Do you have winsock 2 installed?
