Re: bunzip error on server test 36

Hello to all the cygwin users, from the southern hemisphere,

I'm new to cygwin. But the problem addressed here has been encountered
whilst downloading and installing. I used netscape 4.7 and win98. I used the
mirror site at aarnet.edu.au to get cygwin and xfree86. Here was my
obserevation.

1. I downloaded all the recommended files by clicking on the blue link.
netscape uncompressed and I saved them in the specified directory.
2. I found that I couldn't bunzip as the files were reported to be corrupt.
Pretty disappointing given the fact that it takes quite a while to get the
needed files from the mirrored sites, if available.
3. I read through the online manual and decided to download the files and
saved as links. That didn't help either.
4. Finally I decided to do a real download. This meant for me, anyway, that
I had to left click on the download icon, the right most icon. The files
downloaded and I saved them in the specified directory.
5. T ran bunzip2 again and this time it worked. I'm not too sure what
exactly the problem is but I think in any case not clicking on the blue link
helps. This is strange as this is the first time that I've encountered this
kind of problem. I think it is browser related as I can't think of all the
cygwin files and xfree86 files being corrupt.
6. To anyone having problems uncompressing the xfree86 files using bunzip,
try the method I've described. Download by clicking on the download icon and
not the blue link specifying the file.

By cygwin works but xfree86 is taking quite a while to figure out. Making a
transition from Linux and Solaris to cygwin on windows is confusing at first
for me but over time I should be able to figure out the cygwin environment
and adapt accordingly.
