RE: "unable to open display" in 7/2 build

You are using startxwin.sh? right?
Comment out ssh-eval line with # sign. Something is wrong with your ssh
installation or it is not installed at all.

Subject: "unable to open display" in 7/2 build

I have the latest installer for Cygwin/Xfree, and have yet to get it to
actually *run* any x-apps.

(Windows 2000, 256MB memory, Thinkpad 600, NeoMagic MagicGraph128XD
video chipset, 2mb video memory, 1024x768x16 resolution)

Just in case there were some stray file/configuration conflicts, I
removed my entire CygWin installation, and re-installed from scratch,
then ran the installler for XFree from 7/2/01. I can get the X-server
to come up, but none of the applications can find the x-server. When I
run from the Cygwin bash prompt, for example, I get this:

(I tried changing to my current IP number, but that didn't help either)

I *do* have Exceed v7.0 installed on this machine (slow as it may be),
and I'm not sure if that's affecting how this runs (it's not running
when I test this, in fact I've tried rebooting Win2K before trying
this). I didn't find anything in the archives about this. I looked for
stray DLLs, but it looks as though all the CygWin ones are in
c:\cygwin\bin where they belong.
