Speed of firing up server and clients..

I am experimenting a little with startx.. (yeah I know I shouldn't :-)
and discovered that when I try to fire it up the second time, it (the
x-server) won't display anything, and sometimes it closes down..
Just a thought, could it be that firing up the clients (being cached)
goes so fast that they try to do connections and so on before the
x-server has started listening??
