I've deleted C:\cygwin and installed XFree-base and all of its dependencies
again from the Internet. Same result; xkb still crashs. So I don't think
it's the fault of xkb.exe but something's broken on my side - however I do
not know what it might be.
If somebody knows what this could be - or if someone at least has some
hints about how I might find out what's wrong on my system - I'd be VERY
happy!
