a bash prompt in an xterm says:
$ echo $TERM $DISPLAY
xterm 127.0.0.1:0.0

Maybe there's a way to trick abaqus to use XFree86 instead of Exceed, but
I don't know.

That may be a problem if I can ever get it to use my x-server.
