Did you turn off num-lock?

Trust me! That was the first thing I checked! The right mouse click seems to be doing something though because

I did actually find a similar problem in the archives http://www.cygwin.com/ml/cygwin-xfree/2003-08/msg00313.html but it doesn't sound like they got a solution.

Just to add a bit more information to this:

$ xmodmap -pp
There are 3 pointer buttons defined.

   Physical        Button
    Button          Code
       1              1
       2              2
       3              3

The application runs from a SunOS 5.8 Generic_108528-14 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-Enterprise machine.

I found a page about mapping mouse buttons in XFree86 using xkbset:

http://www2.neweb.ne.jp/wd/fbm/kbd/kbd-e.html

and I downloaded the xkbset source and it seemed to compile okay. But when I try to run it I get :

$ xkbset q
Non-existent or incompatible XKB library version

Any ideas?

JS.
