slow cygwin /x applications

Hi,
I recently downloaded the cygwin and cygwin /x
applications (Full download) from cygwin website on my
Pantium III machines. The operating system is windows
2000. The main problem that i encounter is the
cygwin/x application tooks a while to start up.For
example if i will open nedit or gv then it tooks
atleast 3-4 minutes to come up on monitor. Even bash
shell for cygwin /x tooks long to pop up. Normal
cygwin bash shell works fine.
Plese help me on this issue.
