X performance slow after Cygwin/Windows updates

Hi
I just did a clean installation of Windows XP and applied all the updates.
I also updated to the latest Cygwin.
I use ssh (with X11 forwarding enabled) to access remote computers. However
I am finding that while ascii information comes across fine, displaying
anything graphical (including an xemacs window) essentially grinds down to
a crawl. Things used to work great before the upgrades.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
