Problems will arise with filenames that are device names under Win32,
EG: aux, con, prn, etc.

As you can see by the "crw-r--r--" that the cygwin ls knows that this
is a character device.

DON'T DO THAT.  It should "hang" the shell.

If you have such a file that actually exists, you will need to fully
specify the path to remove it.  In the example you give, the file
doesn't exist.
