If the printer is shared via NetBIOS you can send data to it by
redirecting to its NetBIOS name:
cat file > //host/printer
Or give a try to the freeware utility program redpr that comes with
Russell Lang's port redirection monitor redmon
(http://www.ghostgum.com.au/).
