FWIW, this condition is also happening in nano and ncftp, but not in pico
or lynx. I think it has something to do with termcap and ncurses, but I
haven't been annoyed enough by it to go figure out why it is happening
(yes I am uber lazy!). Maybe someone here knows off the top of their
head...
