apache and php causes segmentation fault

I found a thread on this list from a few weeks ago, dealing with problems of running apache and php. Calling phpinfo() would cause segementation faults. As far as I was able to follow the discussion no solution was ever found to the problem. I have just downloaded and installed Cygwin for the first time today (with all the newest packages) and I seem to have the same problems. I was able to narrow it down, by setting the optional parameter in phpinfo() -> turns out that the problem only occurs for phpinfo(INFO_ENVIRONMENT).

I also noticed that perl needs to live in /usr/bin/perl for the binary of the php module to install - Otherwise apxs will throw an error. I had an old Active Perl installation, which would not work.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Philipp
