Tar and --overwrite-dir

Subject: Tar and --overwrite-dir

My info tar mentions --overwrite-dir switch but the tar executable
itself doesn't seem to know anything about it. Is the documentation out
of sync with the executable?

My installed tar package is 1.15.1-2.
