I guess I should mention that the network uses Microsoft Network
Authetication (whatever that might be...)

hmm, this is the output of the net use command on the console (local login)


$ net use
New connections will be remembered.


Status Local Remote Network


-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disconnected M:        \\filesrv\chj          Microsoft Windows Network
The command completed successfully.

and when doing a remote login (using sshd, not run as -u myself,
couldn't get that to work...)

$ net use
New connections will be remembered.

There are no entries in the list.

so I guess this is really about shares...
