Re: Duplicating an install

I've been using cygwin for a while but one question I've got is this.
I've found that the file /etc/installed.db lists all of the cygwin
components that are installed. I've had to rebuild my laptop due to hard
drive failures a couple of times and now have received a new laptop. Is
there a way to have cygwin's setup.exe install the components that are on
my existing laptop automatically without having to pick through the list
and through trial and error re-install the parts I missed? Thanks.

This has been asked and answered before on this list. You can find
details in the email archives. The short of it is, you can copy
/etc/installed.db over and reset all the versions to 0. Then run
setup.exe.
