I am assuming that notepad++ does not understand paths like
/cygdrive/c/filename.txt
and /proc/cpuinfo (it has no hope on this one)
$ man cygpath

Notepad works because notepad.exe is in the path.
You may want to write a wrapper and put it in you path due to the windows -
cygwin path format difference.
