Re: Cygwin 1.7: how do I use gcc-4 and mingw (to replace -mno_cygwin)?

What's the simplest migration path from "gcc -mno-cygwin" (gcc3) to
the equivalent in gcc4?

It's not ready yet.

For now, as workaround, you could use Cygwin packages (Win32 or Win64) from[1]:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw-w64/files

(GCC-4.6 snapshots)

Usually, I unpack the tar-ball into /usr/local/mingw-w64 (tar -xvf ... -C /usr/local/mingw...) and then I create links in /usr/local/bin like this

mingw32-gfortran -> /usr/local/mingw-w64/bin/i686-w64-mingw32-gfortran.exe

So, one can use:

$ mingw32-gfortran -O3 -Wall -mwindows ... f03fractal.f90 -o f03fractal32

or

$ CC='mingw32-gfortran' make all...

etc.

Ciao,
Angelo.
