As someone who _never_ cares about group membership at all (as far as
I know), and runs on a network where no domain server will ever
respond, can I request that the default setup be carefully considered,
if the proposal above would mean me always waiting 1 second, to say
nothing of 3 seconds, to launch anything.
Should we be considering some form of configuration tool, similar to
ssh-host-config, which will set appropriate configuration values for a
range of common situations, including the "no domain controller" one?
Not sure I can volunteer, as I haven't been following the details up
to this point because the functionality is not one I use.
