Ken, do you know if it's possible to subscribe to the bug report - I'd
be interested in knowing how it pans out.
No, I don't think so. (You can subscribe to the bug mailing list, but
then you'd get all emacs bug reports.) But I'll CC you the next time I
write to the report, and then you'll probably stay in the CC. And you
can keep checking back at
