My apologies, I was referring to the second case:

<![%AltVersion;[
    <sect1 id="config-intro" userlevel="unleashed" vendor="redhat">

]]>

and speculating that XML would require using the 'vendor' or
'userlevel' attribute to filter these out of the MainVersion instead
of defining AltVersion to be IGNORE
