Hi there, If I include footnotes in the title of a figure the footnote number gets included in the table of contents. i.e.: <para> <figure id="fig2.4"> <title> The pen stand<footnoteref linkend="ch2note103"> </title> <mediaobject> <imageobject> <imagedata align="center" scale="65" fileref="chapter2/the_pen_stand"> </imageobject> </mediaobject> </figure> </para> The table of contents reads: List of Figures 2-1. Cartesian frame of reference 2-2. The origin is numerically zero in every direction 2-3. Polar Cartesian 2-4. The pen stand[1] 2-5. An example curved geometry I think that it's a bug in the style sheets. The footnote number should only be inserted in the actual body of the text, and suppressed in the table of contents. What do you think? Joe
