[This reply is mainly for people who are searching the archives for an
answer to this problem]
There is a working build for Win32 of openjade 1.3.1 available which
fixes the "invalid message" problems. See the openjade home page at
http://openjade.sourceforge.net and follow the instructions to download
the windows pre-built executables.
